Q:  What does the acronym EFI stand for?

A:  EFI stands for Environmental Fibers International.

Q:  Where is EFI Recycling located?

A:  EFI Recycling maintains a 25,000-square-foot facility on Swan Island in North Portland where collected recyclables are processed and prepared for shipping.

Q:  What can EFI recycle?

A:  EFI Recycling’s facility is equipped with the most sophisticated technology to efficiently collect, sort and recycle various materials. EFI Recycling accepts corrugated cardboard; office paper; printers mix (such as file stock, carbon-less/triplicate forms, fax paper, windowed envelopes, coated brochures and fliers, letterhead, etc.); newspapers, magazines and phone books; and plastic film, shrink wrap and pallet wrap.

Q:  What type of equipment do customers of EFI Recycling need?

A:  EFI Recycling makes recycling easy for companies and their employees. EFI Recycling makes a wide range of roll carts and bins available for on-site storage of recyclables.

Q:  How does EFI Recycling’s waste management and recycling program work?

A:  EFI Recycling’s materials recovery solution is a three-step process:

1. Waste Audit. First, an EFI Recycling representative visits a client’s site to conduct an audit that involves evaluating waste streams, collection practices and disposal bills. EFI Recycling then determines which materials could be reclaimed and at what value. EFI Recycling may also make recommendations on improving the collection efficiency and value of a client’s waste.

2. Collection and Processing. EFI Recycling begins collection and processing of a client’s waste upon negotiation of an agreement. EFI Recycling then readies the material for shipping to a mill for recycling.

3. Mill Shipment. Once sorted and baled, recycled material is sold to paper and plastic manufacturers domestically and internationally. EFI Recycling ships industry-standard 2,000 pound bales of product. By dealing in high quality, mill-ready product, EFI Recycling maintains significant leverage for a stable price structure.

Q:  Why does EFI Recycling sell to mills outside the U.S.?

A:  EFI Recycling maintains relationships with domestic and international mills in order to achieve the best possible pricing for its customers. EFI Recycling’s first point of contact is to mills and manufacturers in the U.S., which allows the company to keep material close to the source and limit carbon emissions. However, as market demand will vary, EFI Recycling may find better pricing in international markets if domestic markets are trending weak.

Q:  What does EFI Recycling’s brokerage service entail?

A:  EFI Recycling’s brokerage service matches buyers and sellers of recyclable products. Our experienced brokers have extensive knowledge about the market for recyclable products. And, because EFI Recycling can deal in larger volumes than an individual customer may have, we can negotiate premium pricing and pass it on to our clients.

Q:  Does EFI Recycling offer shredding services?

A:  Through its subsidiary, EnviroShred NW, EFI Recycling provides secure document destruction for customers seeking off-site, on-site or walk-in shredding services in the Portland metropolitan area. For more information about EnviroShred NW’s capabilities, visit EnviroShred NW.
