Acquired Commercial Recycler based in Vancouver, Wash., Cites Economic Conditions for Sale

Portland, Ore. (May 1, 2009) — Environmental Fibers International (EFI) has acquired the assets of Market Fibers, a commercial recycler based in Vancouver, Wash., that attributes its election to sell to poor economic conditions. EFI is a commercial recycling and document shredding company based in Portland, Ore., and has been serving the metropolitan area’s shredding and recycling needs since 2001.

“Purchasing Market Fibers’ assets was a great opportunity for us to continue to build our business. We have worked closely with Market Fibers for years, so the transition has been a smooth one,” said Scott Jenkins, vice president at EFI. As of April 1, Market Fibers ceased operations and EFI began performing regular recycling pickups for all Market Fibers customers. “Our goal was to make this transition seamless and ensure that our new clients receive uninterrupted service,” said Jenkins.

With the acquisition, EFI is able to serve more clients and offer office paper collection to small and mid-size businesses. “In the past, we have focused on businesses producing large volumes of recyclables. With our newly acquired equipment and clients, we are able to service a more diverse group of Portland businesses,” said business development manager Steinar Urdahl. “It’s exciting to be able to offer this new service. Not only will it help EFI grow as a recycler, it will also help save businesses money,” continued Urdahl.

The EFI management team brings more than 100 years of combined experience in the recycling and secured shredding industry. EFI prides itself on providing excellent service and value to customers, and it is dedicated to meeting organizations’ shredding and recycling needs today for a better tomorrow.
